Dress Code

NMSI 2017 Dress Code is MANDATORY for ALL programs/divisions. The information provided below applies to student-dancers enrolled within Pre-Ballet, Junior or Youth Division.

Ballet Attire

Week 1 + 2

Ladies

Leotard: Black
Tights: Pink - must completely cover the feet
Ballet/Pointe Shoes: Pink (Pointe shoes for levels IV only)
Warmers: Close fitting pink leg warmers only
Skirts: Allowed in Levels III & IV only

Short, sheer skirts permitted at instructor's discretion

Gentlemen

Leotard: White or black tank or cap sleeved
Tights: Black footed tights or Black convertible tights with white socks
Shoes: Black ballet shoes
Warmers: Close fitting black leg warmers only

* This is the attire for ALL students (Pre-Ballet, Youth and Junior Division Students).

Hair & Jewelry

HAIR

Women: Long hair must be pulled back and pinned securely into a bun away from the dancer’s face and neck. Hair that is too short for a bun must be pinned or styled neatly. Bangs, pony tails, or loose hanging hair styles are not allowed.

Men: Hair must be neatly groomed and pulled away from the face. Loose hanging hair must be neatly secured.

JEWELRY

For the safety of each student-dancer, jewelry of any kind is prohibited within the studio. Please refrain from bringing valuables to NMSI 2017.
